How good is your English?

On the 1st July, Wave-length’s director, Ann Johnson, spent the morning volunteering at The Priory School in Shrewsbury.

Her aim? Making sure that students know just how important English is within various businesses.

What is the purpose of this exercise you might just be wondering? Upon reflection, Ann said “I think it’s important for Wave-length to give its time to this kind of work so as to help deliver the importance of English in the workplace to employees of the future.”

20 groups of students (with 8-10 students per group) were given a short task to complete by Ann, after reading one of Wave-lengths news stories, reduce the size down to 140 characters so it can be used on the social media website Twitter. The students had to make the post engaging, ensure it made sense, avoid the use of slang and focus on key issues.

Sounds simple enough, right?
