Dementia is soon to become the biggest burden on healthcare systems around the world. According to Alzheimer’s Disease International the number of dementia sufferers worldwide is expected to treble to 135m by 2050. In 2010, the global cost of dementia was around £400 billion and this figure will continues to rise as more people are diagnosed each year. In England there are currently 670,000 sufferers, costing the economy £23bn per year.
